Demantoid Garnet

The demantoid garnet is the rarest type of garnet; it was first mined in Russia, but is now extracted in Namibia and Madagascar, among other places. Demantoid garnets with a horse tail inclusion are highly prized and considered high-quality gemstones. Natural rough demantoid garnets are often tiny, broken, and stained, which is why virgin gemstones are highly sought after.
