How to choose your Oval Diamond well?
Even though the Round shape, also known as Brilliant, is the most popular of all the Diamond shapes. There are many others. In this guide, we will focus on the Oval shape. This latter is the most popular 'FANCY' cut (all shapes except round) of the past two years.
Firstly, it is necessary to define what an Oval Diamond is. An Oval Diamond is the fusion between a Round Diamond and a Marquise Diamond. Its 55 facets allow it to have a brilliance that is second to none compared to other shapes like the Princess Diamond or the Pear Diamond.
The Oval Diamond is not only trendy for its particularly pleasant and sleek shape. Its shape allows to elongate the finger of its owner which is a very coveted effect that will delight its holder.
Moreover, the Oval Diamond can be more or less elongated which allows its owner to have a much larger stone on the finger.
Furthermore, one of the specificities of the Oval Diamond is that its price is slightly lower than that of a Round Diamond. This is due to the fact that there is less loss when cutting the rough and that this shape is less sought after than the Round shape.
To choose your Oval Diamond well and get the best possible result, it is important to follow these few rules.
Firstly, regarding color, it is important not to go below I to avoid having a Diamond that appears Yellow (If you opt for a Yellow Gold setting, feel free to go down to K which will have no impact on the visual but will allow you to get a larger stone with your budget for example). If you opt for a White metal, we even advise you to take a G color stone or better.
For clarity, do not go below SI1 even though we think it is important to take a stone at least VS2 to be sure that no impurity will be visible.
An important element to take into account will also be the Symmetry of the Diamond. By opting for excellent symmetry, your Diamond will shine in its entirety and no shadow area (commonly called BOW-TIE EFFECT) will appear on it.
The choice of the setting is also particularly important when you are about to acquire the ring of your life. There are different settings that will perfectly accompany your Oval Diamond.
