4 GOLDEN RULES FOR CHOOSING A DIAMOND

Be careful when you buy a Diamond!

Choisir un diamant, is first and foremost about learning to spot the right choices... Some players in this hushed and discreet world try to take advantage of unsuspecting or uninformed customers.

Many diamond dealers, even in large houses, have little or no knowledge of gemology. In this case, customers find themselves spending millions of euros without having benefited from expertise commensurate with their investment. Many of the clients we meet feel they have been wronged in the past when buying a stone. It often turns out that they either spent too much for the quality sold or were poorly informed. Before buying, the best way to protect yourself is to get informed. Don't be a victim of some jewelers anymore.

Here are some tips to guide you in buying a diamond:

Rule No. 1: Have some knowledge of gemology

At equal weight, a diamond, depending on its quality, can see its price quadruple. So don't rush into what you think is a good deal.
First, find out about the quality of the diamond. It is important to distinguish between the total carat weight and the weight of the central diamond.

Most of the time, it is the total carat weight that is stated, but this is not the best indicator as it simply refers to the combined weight of all the diamonds in a piece of jewelry.

Ask your seller about the weight of the central stone, it's Pandora's box, the key part of the jewelry. If you don't know the weight of the central piece, it will be impossible for you to determine if the price is fair. If the seller can't provide you with the information or is very evasive about it, they have something to hide.

Rule No. 2: Be clear about diamond certificates

Always be wary if you are offered to buy without the appropriate certificate.
Also know that not all international certificates have the same value. Be wary of Certificates like the IGL which will tend to "upgrade" the quality of diamonds. It is not uncommon for some laboratories like the IGL to be 3 or 4 grades above the truth.

Prefer GIA, HRD or IGI laboratories. More information on diamond certificates.

Rule No. 3: Buy your diamond in the right place

Note that brick-and-mortar stores have higher operating costs than a showroom like ours and therefore, the prices are significantly affected.
The margins practiced are also different. Generally, a jeweler applies a coefficient of 2 to 3 compared to the purchase price.

Our strategy, at Celinni, is to work on large volumes which allow us to save you several hundred, even thousands of euros for a product often of superior quality.

Rule No. 4: Bet on diamond expertise

We work with the best Parisian workshops, all of which are subcontractors for the biggest houses in Place Vendôme.
You can therefore be sure that by coming to us, you will buy a piece with an exceptional finish. What's more, diamond is our core business, which makes us even more demanding when we select them.

Rule No. 5: Find out about the seller's reputation.

Finally, do not hesitate to check the seller's reputation on the Internet thanks to Google reviews or sites like Verified Reviews.

You now have all the keys in hand to buy your diamond in the best way possible, avoiding certain practices...
