Alexandrite

The rare and expensive gemstone known as alexandrite was first discovered in Russia in the 1830s. Elle is known for its rare ability to change color due to the traces of chromium it contains. A common jewelry stone, alexandrite can appear purple in incandescent light and greenish in daylight.
